Having an e-check (ACH) or direct debit account gives you the ablity to take checks from your customer over the phone or web.  Some customers, usually between 8% to 35% depending on your price point and demographic, prefer to pay with an electronic check.  This transaction is taken just like a debit or credit card but uses the bank and account data listed on the bottom of a check. No signature is required. The transactions clear thru the Federal Reserve using a secure SSL Internet socket.   Electronic representments of NSF items are easily managed by CambridgEcommerce and reported to you.
